EXHIBIT E: RECLAMATION PLAN
1. General Reclamation Plan
Reclamation plans have been developed to preserve the site. Galleries will be barricaded from access,
but where possible will be left exposed to be viewed by tourists. Access to some galleries may be
maintained for guided tours as well. Quarry designs have been developed to provide a very high
safety factor in the design which will allow for touring of the quarries. WRL's have been designed
to mimic the historic tumbled block piles while being geotechnically and erosionally stable.
2. Topsoil Replacement
Topsoil will be placed on the lower benches of the WRL's. Some areas on the lower benches may
be maintained as roadways or pads based on operational needs of the both the quarry and future
tourist mine. When possible 12" of topsoil or silty overburden will be placed on the benches. The
top bench of each WRL will be left as crushed marble for parking and exhibits.
The glacial moraine, which will be partially excavated near the Jefferson Quarry, will be topsoiled
once it reaches its final geometry. The maximum exposed moraine area the completion of the
Jefferson Quarry will be less than 1.5 acres.
3. Haul Roads and Access
All roads, paths, and access ways will be maintained at the end of the mine's life.
4. Reclamation Timetable
Reclamation will take place concurrently with mining. Much of the mine plan is left in place at the
end of the mine's life. Revegetation of the WRL benches will occur as soon as possible, unless
operationally the bench is left open for use in the mining operation.
At the end of the mine's life, reclamation of the site will be limited to safeguarding of the portals and
slopes. Portals will be barricaded using gates and blocks to prevent access. Larger portals will be
fenced to allow for viewing but to limit access. Slopes will be safe guarded using waste marble
The Pride of America DRMS 112c
Exhibit E - 1 12/23/15
