SPECIFICATION NUMBER: <br /> CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION 03 30 00 SPE <br /> Climax Molybdenum <br /> AFreeporf.McMoRanCompany TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION PROJECT NAME: <br /> CAVR Shaft Closure Project <br /> slump, and air entertainment requirements,the Contractor shall be required <br /> to change the standard proportions to meet the requirements. <br /> D. Air-Entraining Agent <br /> 1. All concrete shall be air entrained. Air content by volume shall be in <br /> accordance with Section Error! Reference source not found. above and <br /> shall be determined in accordance with ASTM C231. Air content shall be <br /> based on measurements made in concrete mixtures at points of discharge <br /> from the truck at the jobsite. <br /> 2. Air entrainment shall be produced by adding an air entraining agent at the <br /> mixer. The Air entraining agent shall conform to ASTM C260. The agent <br /> and the cement proposed for use shall be selected in advance of concrete <br /> placing, and the Contractor shall provide satisfactory facilities for <br /> procurement of adequate test samples. <br /> E. Water-Reducing and Set-Controlling Admixtures <br /> 1. A water-reducing admixture may be used (ASTM C494, Type A) at the <br /> option of the Contractor, and subject to approval by the Engineer and <br /> Owner. A water-reducing admixture which retards the time of set may be <br /> used (ASTM C494, Type D). <br /> 2. Water reducing admixtures shall conform to the requirements of ASTM <br /> C494. Admixtures shall be used in strict accordance with the <br /> Manufacturer's printed recommendations. The Contractor and concrete <br /> producer shall submit a certificate from an approved laboratory attesting <br /> that the admixture equals or exceeds the physical requirements of ASTM <br /> C494, Type A or D as applicable. <br /> F. Fly Ash <br /> 1. If a fly ash admixture is to be used, the establishment of the concrete mix <br /> design shall include the use of fly ash and determine the amount of fly ash <br /> which may be used to obtain the specified concrete properties and strengths. <br /> The maximum percentage of cement to be replaced by fly ash shall be 20 <br /> percent. Any deleterious effects from the use of fly ash shall be reported in <br /> writing with the mix design submittal. <br /> G. Concrete Uniformity <br /> 1. Concrete mixers to be used in the performance of the work of this project <br /> shall be tested by the Contractor for their ability to deliver a uniform mix <br /> 114-910345 CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION <br /> Climax CAVR Shaft Closure Project 03 30 00 SPE-12 <br />
