Peabody Sage Creek Mining, LLC Page 5 12/14/2015 Selenium, Total Recoverable acute standard (4.6 ug/1) was exceeded at SSLG5 (5.8 ug/1 and 6.9 ug/1). This site is upstream of any mine discharges. -Grassy Creek: Grassy Creek is on Segment 13e of the Yampa River Basin. Six monitoring sites exist within the Grassy Creek drainage for the mine: YSGF5, SSG1, 003 outfall, SSG2, SSG3, and YSG5. Sites SSG1, SSG2, YSG5 and YSGF5 exceeded the total recoverable iron standard (1.0 mg/1). Sites SSGI, SSG2, YSG5, and YSGF5 exceeded the Total Mercury standard of (.01 ug/1) for the aquatic life. According to PSCM, the drinking water standard for mercury is 2 ug/1. The lab used to assess the water samples collected at the site use a method where the detection limit for mercury is .2 ug/1. None of the samples collected in the water monitoring year were above the detection limit. Site YSG5 exceeded the acute selenium standard (4.6 ug/1). However, no exceedances were noted at NPDES outfall 003. 10. Interim Narrative CWQCC regulation 41 It was determined that bed rock groundwater points of Standard for Ground compliance are unwarranted at the PSCM mine. Well Water SGAL70 serves as the PSCM Grassy Creek Alluvial ground water point of compliance. No exceedances of the parameters set forth were exceeded during the 2014 water year. 11. Sampling frequency Volume 1, p. 2.04-107 The report indicates that all frequencies were met. Two at surface water of CDRMS mining items were noted. permit C-2009-087 • Site SSC10 on Cow Camp Creek was sampled in June of 2014, but according to the report the site was dry the rest of the year. • Spoil spring SSSPG7, according to the AHR Appendix D, this site no longer exists due to the construction of the lower sump. PSCM may want to revise the water monitoring plan in the permit since this site no longer exists.
