The inspection was conducted by Clayton Wein of the Colorado Division of Reclamation,
Mining amid Safety (DRMS). The site is inactive; therefore no company representative was present for the
inspection. The weather was clear and breezy with a temperature of about 35 degrees Fahrenheight. The mine site
was covered in snow ranging from about 2 to 4 inches.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
The records are kept at the Garfield County Courthouse located in Glenwood Springs. The records were
in good condition. Deficiencies were identified with the records. The NPDES records for the 2nd and 3rd
quarter of 2015 were not in the records. Records of the quarterly pond inspections were missing the 2nd
and 3rd quarter reports. The NPDES permit had expired on January 31, 2015. Please update these sections
of the records. For more information, see the attached Availability of Records form, included at the end of this
report.
FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18:
Throughout the mine site tracks in the snow from rabbits and deer were observed.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
- The Mine No. 1 and Mine No. 3 discharge pipes are located at the inlet of the Long Pond.
