The mine has
been reclaimed.
2.05.2(1) Production Methods and Equipment
The Carbon Junction Mine was planned as a steeply dipping seam open pit mining
operation, extracting one thick coal seam above a competent sandstone base. Trucks,
shovels, and a backhoe were used to conduct overburden extraction and coal removal.
No further coal mining will occur at the Carbon Junction Mine under this permit. The
mine has been reclaimed. Remaining activities will be limited to those necessary to
monitor reclamation.
2.05.2(2) Operation Description
Activities at the Carbon Junction Mine are solely related to reclamation and monitoring.
The mine plan map revised in 2002 shows two foot contour intervals derived from aerial
photography in the 1 st quarter of 2002.
