Remaining Reclamation
There is no known reclamation remaining at the Carbon Junction Mine, except as noted
below with regard to wells.
Sediment Ponds 1 and 2
Sediment ponds 1 and 2 werereclaimed (backfilled, regraded, retopsoiled, and
revegetated) in December 2008 and April 2009 following a determination that they were
no longer required for sediment control at the Carbon Junction mine site(Technical
Revision 15).
In addition to the above described modifications to the reclamation plan described above,
the following modification was made previously to the reclamation plan. This change
involved removal of the former explosives area from the mine site.
Golf Course Reclamation
The northwest corner of the original permit area (approximately 10 acres) fell within the
area planned for development of a golf course and ancillary facilities. To facilitate
construction of the golf course facility, Oakridge Energy requested that the explosives
bench and access road be left in their currentconfiguration. Based on this request,
liability release from CDRMSwas sought for this area. CDRMSapproved this release in
1997. Subsequent to the liability release, the area was excised from the Carbon Junction
Mine permit area (CDRMSTR07).
Timetable and Schedule
Final reclamationof the Carbon Junction Mine began in the springof 2006and continued
through August 2006.Final reclamation of the sediment control system took place
.
between November and December 2008 and April and May 2009
Reclamation Costs
Oakridge Energy represents that there are no known remaining reclamation obligations at
the Carbon Junction Mine site under the approved mining and reclamation plan. The
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety is required by statute and regulation to retain
a minimum reclamation bond of $10, 000.00. This amount is more than sufficient for any
unforeseen reclamation requirementsthat might arise prior to final bond release.
Abridged Permit Document 5-12 Permit Renewal RN04 4/2014
