MINING PLAN
is built, then the sand on the north end of the reservoir site will need to be in place, in an-andistul
condition, to accommodate that possible ffiture use. All other future final land uses that are bein
considered at this time are fess finfiting on the flulture extraction of this smid than the reservoir.
MATERIAL PROCESSING:
Processing of the sand removed from this area will be identical to the processing of sand
removed elsewhere. Basically, the sand will be transported, by conveyor, to the west side of
Academy Boulevard (through the tunnels)where it will be washed and distributed as product. No
separate processing is necessary.
INTEGRATION OF MINING AND RECLAMATION:
Because little or no reclamation can be done in the Little Johnson area or IMMEDIATELY
adjacent portions of Phase 4e THE SOUTH AREA until this mining is completed, mining and
reclamation will be sequential. That is, when the mining is completed the reclamation will be
implemented on the entire area. In the existing plan, the final slope for the east side of Phase 4e THE
SOUTH AREA would be created in the near future and would have a planned maximum grade of
But with mining of the Little Johnson area the final reclamation of the east end of Phase 4e THE
SOUTH AREA must be delayed until the Little Johnson area is completed. Although this results in a
delay of reclamation, the benefit is that the final slope will be far more gradual, it will be covered
with better soil and it should revegetate much better than the existing plan would produce. The
benefit to the final reclamation product far exceeds the deficit of the additional time until
reclamation occurs.
Because of constantly changing land uses, as well as future plans for this area by the Se
Water District, the actual finie when reclamation will begin is difficuft to determine. At this point-Tin
tinic, it is expected that recimnation will begin upon completion of th-, lmlmir,, aa ,equired by f aw. 1
is possibfe that, at the completion of mining, these ffiture uses wilf be more definite and other opti
wifl be considered. Further detail on this aspect is provided in the Reelmnation Plan(Exhibit E) ai
in the next section of this exhibit.
This is the end of the Little Johnson Reservoir mining plan. A few other issues regarding other
portions of the operation were also presented in the amendment. These issues are repeated in the
next section of this exhibit.
Daniels Sand Pit Amendment (2008) Exhibit D Page 17 of 28
