An aerial inspection was conducted the previous day by Harry Ranney of the Division. <br />Chuck Shelden of Oxbow Mining accompanied the ground inspection throughout. The weather was <br />overcast but dry, and the ground was mostly dry with a few patches of snow. Although some ice had built up, the <br />North Fork of the Gunnison River was again flowing slightly above the seasonal average (-130 cfs, per the USGS <br />streamflow measuring site upstream of Somerset). <br />The status of the Elk Creek Mine is "active" however no coal is being mined and the activity since the last <br />inspection has been focussed on the early stages of site reclamation. <br />GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE: <br />Tr -76 and MR -107 were both approved on November 6, 2015. The public comment period for each of <br />these revisions has elapsed with no comments received, so the revisions are final and the Permit Application <br />Packet should be updated accordingly. <br />ROADS — Rule 4.03; Surfacing and Maintenance 4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6): <br />The roads around the site were in good condition. <br />RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3: <br />DEMCO contractors were on site, working on the demolition of conveyors. The Reclaim, Silo Feed and <br />Loadout Feed Conveyors, and the remaining section of the Sanborn Creek Mine Overland Conveyor (shown as <br />"conveyor IA" on map 2.05-m1) had been cut into manageable sections with a torch and piled at various locations <br />around the site. The steel had not yet been cut into pieces that could be efficiently transported, and no steel had <br />been removed from the site. <br />Summit Mechanical were also on site, as sub -contractors for Rundle Construction. They were in the <br />process of building a cement block wall to seal the portals. As they were building the wall they were also moving <br />fill material into the portal in order to maintain the working height.
