Jennifer Maiolo and Dario Archuleta of
BLM-Little Snake Resource Office met the inspector at the mine entrance road. SCC had reported problems with
unauthorized vehicle use on BLM property. Jennifer and Dario were there to assess the problem. The weather
was cool, overcast, turning to a light rain in the late morning.
The mine is a recalimed surface mine. No mine personnel remain on the site. The only facilities remaining on site
are permanint roads, permanent power lines, permanent drainages and culverts, and ponds. No mine
representative was present during the inspection. The inspector checked in with Jerry Nettleton at the Foidel
Creek Mine when entering on to the property and notified Jerry when leaving the property.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
Mine records are stored at the Foidel Creek Mine office, and hydrology records remain housed in the
vacant PSCM office. Records were checked in their respective locations. A records form is attached to the end of
this report.
The insurance certificate, needs to reflect that it applies to the Yoast Mine.
FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18:
Elk hunting season is in effect. The operator had reported to BLM that a neighboring landowner was
charging hunters for access across his property in order to reach BLM property. In doing so, hunters were
damaging reclaimed areas of the Yoast mine with utility vehicle traffic. Repeated tracks of the UTVs have
crushed the established vegetation and in some cases, torn up the carefully established vegetation. After
assessment of the damage, the Division believes the reclaimed vegetation should be able to recover next growing
season, provided the vehicle traffic ceases. BLM representatives stated that vehicle traffic is confined to
established and existing roads and trails. Signage may be posted to make hunters aware of where vehicles are
permitted.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 2 of 9
