Statistical Summary and Sample Adequacy Calculations, document that the number of
transects required to characterize the "total plant cover" at the 90% confidence interval was 5.7
transects and 6.7 transects for "allowable plant cover."
When IME sampled this area in 2010, the average "total plant cover" was 57.10%. When IME
sampled this area in 2006, the average "total plant cover" was 30.93%.
Forage Production. The results obtained from the sampling of the 31 forage production transects
are found in Table 19, Corley Reclamation Area — 2013 Production. Forage production
averaged 13.61 g/1/4 m2 or 485.1 pounds per acre. Perennial grasses produced 13.21 g/1/4 m2 or
484.9 pounds per acre and accounted for 97.1 % of the forage production. Perennial forbs
produced 0.39/1/4 m2 or 14.0 pounds per acre and accounted for 2.9% of the forage production.
The locations of the 31 forage production transects are shown on Map 19, Corley Reclamation -
2013 Transect Location Map. The sample adequacy calculations in Table 2, 2013 - Statistical
Summary and Sample Adequacy Calculations, document that the number of samples required
to characterize the parameter of total herbaceous forage production at the 90% confidence interval
was 15.4 transects.
When IME sampled this area in 2010, the average forage production was 39.38 g/1/4m2 or 1,403.5
pounds per acre. When IME sampled a large portion of this area in 2006, the average forage
production was 19.12 g/1/4m2 or 681.4 pounds per acre.
Species Diversity. The four most dominant plant species contributed 21.21% of the total plant
cover or 74.50% of the total relative plant cover. Warm season grass species contributed 15.94%
of the total plant cover or 55.99% of the total relative cover. The two most dominant warm season
plant species contributed 15.67% of the total plant cover or 55.04% of the total relative plant
cover.
When IME sampled this area in 2010, warm season grass species contributed 14.6% of the total
plant cover or 25.57% of the total relative cover. The two most dominant warm season plant
species contributed 11.60% of the total plant cover or 20.32% of the total relative plant cover.
The four most dominant plant species contributed 39.60% of the total plant cover or 69.35% of
the total relative plant cover.
When IME sampled this area in 2006, warm season grass species contributed 9.13% of the total
plant cover or 29.51 % of the total relative cover. The two most dominant warm season plant
species contributed 5.93% of the total plant cover or 19.17% of the total relative plant cover. The
four most dominant plant species contributed 18.27% of the total plant cover or 59.07% of the
total relative plant cover.
LOADOUT REFERENCE AREA
Plant Cover. The results obtained from the sampling of the 21 plant cover transects on the
Loadout Reference Area, are presented in Table 21, Loadout Reference Area - 2013 Plant
Cover. "Total plant cover" averaged 26.52%, litter cover averaged 31.95% and "allowable plant
cover" averaged 21.38%.
Perennial grasses was the dominant plant life form, contributing 16.86% of the total plant cover or
63.56% of the total relative plant cover. Annuals was the second most dominant plant category
and contributed 5.10% of the total plant cover or 19.21 % of the total relative plant cover.
Perennial forbs was the third most dominant plant form, contributing 1.76% of the total plant
cover or 6.64% of the total relative plant cover. Woody plants consisting of shrubs and sub -
17
