All gold bearing gravel north of the River (Area 1) will be processed at the North Location, shown on
Map C-2, located on relatively flat ground near the old access road. This location will be fixed
throughout the life of mining at the North Location. All gold bearing gravel south of the River (Areas 2,
3 and 4) will be processed at the South Location, shown on Map C-2, located on relatively flat ground
west of the office/residence. In this way, the use of the River Crossing is minimized since gravel and
tailings do not need to be hauled to the other side of the River. There will not be processing equipment
at both locations at the same time. All equipment will move to the South Location from the North
Location, and the North Location will be reclaimed prior to operation at the South Location. At either
location, a sluice, possible trommel, Settling Pond and Fines Stockpile will be present. Settling Pond 3,
shown on Map C-2, will not be used for processing; it is simply a sediment pond to handle the runoff
from the pre -law highwall and road disturbance. Minus '/2" material will enter the sluice and the tailings
will be collected in the Settling Pond at each wash plant location, which will be cleaned out of tailings at
the required intervals. At the South Location, water overflow from the South Settling Pond will then
enter the Water Holding Pond. This clean water will be recycled back to the trommel and sluice. For the
North Location, a partition will be present in the Settling Pond, where most solids will settle out in the
1 St partition, and the second partition will be used to make clean water for recycling back to the sluice.
The makeup water will come from the Platte City Placer Ditch where a small pump will be placed along
the side of the Ditch, which will pump water to the very small Ditch Surge Pond, and then a 2nd pump
will be used to pump water directly to the sluice. For the North Location, the makeup water will be
transported across the River by installing a 3" HDPE line along the proposed River Crossing as part of
the Crossing construction. The line will be carefully installed in the bed of the river and will be covered
with small rocks of approximately 6" in size to a depth of 8"-18" followed by larger rocks of 20-24"
size, which are typical in the natural river bed. This line will be buried along the access road to the New
Crossing location on both sides of the River, further anchoring the pipe installation. The Fines Stockpile
will hold the fine material excavated from the Settling Pond, which will be used for backfilling. The
North Process Area is limited to 0.38 acres and the South Process Area is limited to 0.48 acres.
The sluice will use water from existing rights in the Platte City Placer Ditch. Tails from the Settling
Ponds will be periodically excavated and hauled back to the pit as backfill, which will be mixed with
other backfill material within the pit.
Sullivan Aggregate Pit March 2015 D-6
