The answers to 2 and 4 are being prepared and
will be sent in subsequent correspondence prior to 28 September.
CC&V's contention with item three is that the ponding was primarily caused by surficial crusts
due to precipitation and that there was no indication that the ore assembly was saturated. Thus,
the stability analyses the request are not needed for item 3. During your inspection on the 16
September 2015 process staff reviewed these findings with you.
CC&V started turning misters off in mid-August and we have them all shut off at the present
time. As you observed on the pad, the crews have and continue to make a concerted effort to
eliminate ponding by ripping the pad surface to improve permeability and then relay drip -line on
the Arequa Valley Leach Facility.
INSPECTION TOPIC: Fish & Wildlife
PROBLEM/POSSIBLE VIOLATION: Problem: A significant amount of water, exceeding the
allowed 3' x 3' area under section II.B of the Wildlife Protection Plan was observed on the
AGVLF.
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: Provide an explanation of the situation and a proposed means to
address/mitigate the problem by the Corrective Action due date.
CORRECTIVE ACTION DUE DATE: 9/16/15
