September 16, 2015 C-1994-082/Yoast Mine JHB
Drainage YPM-1-2 looked good with no apparent problems or maintenance requirements.
Pond 14 was holding a clear pool of water but was not discharging, Pond 13 was also holding a clear pool of water
but was not discharging. Pond 12 was discharging clear effluent. The Pond 12 flume has been cleared of
vegetation and relevelled. This repair is acceptable. Flow in the pond 12 flume was very low; approximately
<0.01 on staff gauge.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:
As noted throughout the report.
ROADS — Rule 4.03
Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4)
Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6)
Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
The main access road had several vehicles with trailers, including a Colorado Parks and Wildlife vehicle
parked by entrance to Routt County Road No. 27 earlier in the day. As the inspector was entering onto the road,
the last of the vehicles were pulling out. There had been vehicle traffic down the Yoast access road. There were a
number of pick-ups parked on the west side of the corrals in a hunting camp. The vehicles were parked off the
permit boundary.
There was no sign of vehicles travelling the access road recently (while the road was muddy) past the corrals.
The gate to the mine area was not locked. The access road was in good shape south of the corrals. The area had
received several good precipitation event in the several days preceding the inspection. The roads were damp but
not too soft or muddy. Runoff was directed appropriately off of the access road. No ponded areas were
encountered on the road.
REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15
Vegetative Cover; Timing:
Pond 10 embankment outslope has a sizable patch of Canada thistle and Houndstongue. Fall weed control
effort on this patch of noxious weeds is advised. Some of the Jointed goatgrass on the top of the Pond 10
embankment is re -sprouting. A fall treatment on this winter annual noxious species is advised as well. Control of
weed patches can result in bare patches. Broadcast seeding of the approved permanent seed mix needs to be a part
of the weed control efforts as well.
SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12:
SCC has repaired, filled in the nick point, and roughened the head of the gully previously identified at the
top of YPM-7. This repair is acceptable and should disperse the concentrated run off in this location. The gully
previously noted west of SP06-3 has been suitably repaired and addressed.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 5
