No mine personnel accompanied the inspector
on site. The inspector checked in with Scott Cowman of SCC when going on the property and also checked out
with him when leaving the property. The Mine is a reclaimed surface mine. The weather was partly cloudy,
windy, with intermittent rain showers.
FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18:
Archery and Muzzle loading hunting season were active at the time of the inspection. Prior to accessing
the mine site, SCC personnel, Scott Cowman, informed the inspector that there were no hunters expected to be
hunting on the permit area. Aside from a hunting camp located to the west of the access road, and outside the
permit area boundary, no other hunters were observed.
A hawk, perhaps a rough shouldered hawk, was observed soaring and hunting around pond 10 area. There were
signs that cattle had been at the Pond 10 area recently, but were no longer in this area at the time of the inspection.
Approximately 10 black cow/calf pairs were grazing on the west side of the north pit. Three cow/calf pairs were
observed in the neck pit area. Several Turkey vultures were soaring around the ST -I area, though no obvious
carrion was seen or smelled.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9;:
The flume at pond 10 has been installed. This flume is 5 to 6 feet in width. The discharge from pond 10
is low and approximately <0.I on the staff gauge. Flow looked level across the bottom of this large flume. There
was vegetation in the Pond 10 riser that needs to be cleared out.
Pond 12A was holding a stagnant pool of water. ST -1 was holding a cloudy pool of water approximately 5 feet
below the discharge elevation.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: I
Page 2 of 5
