September 15, 2015 C-1982-057/Seneca II -W Mine JHB
There is patch of Canada thistle along the contour ditch west of Surge tank PM -213-1. This patch shows signs that
it had been sprayed earlier in the summer but has re -sprouted. This patch would benefit from a fall pesticide
application.
There has been considerable trampling of vegetation near the fence line between the Friederick property and the
Ricks' property to the south (Photo 8). This area appears to have been dominated by annuals with some perennial
grasses trying to get established. There were numerous "Wild turnip" (Brassica rapa) plants pulled up and strewn
about. This area has few established perennial species. SCC may need to interseed to mitigate the trampling.
SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12:
A gully has formed on the slope south and west of the perennial spring in drainage PM -2.
Vegetation has not filled in this this gully. Hand work with a shovel & broadcast seeding should be effective
in retarding enlargement of this gully.
SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02:
SCC needs to update the mine identification signs with the current contact phone number and
address. The post office box listed on the signs remains in effect.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED NA
OTHER (SPECIFY) NA
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were taken as a result of this inspection.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 5 of 8
