The inspector met SCC representative, Scott
Cowman, and landowners Theresa and Wayne Friederick-Takasugi at the Peabody Sage Creek office. The
landowners live out of state, and try to come to the property once per year. Ms. Takasugi requested to be updated
on the status of the reclamation and maintenance of her property.
The weather was cloudy and had rained the previous evening. Roads at the mine site were damp, but not soft, and
were drivable. The weather during the inspection ranged from sunny, to brief rain showers, to very windy
conditions.
FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18:
The Friederick-Takasugi's had granted permission to a group of hunters to hunt on their property. The
hunting party was camping at the shop/warehouse area. Scott Cowman and the landowners contacted the hunters
and let them know that we would be inspecting the property. The hunters would not be on the property during the
time that the inspection would be taking place.
The inspector also contacted the hunters to let them know when DRMS was off the property in the late afternoon.
Black powder season was in effect.
Although no elk were observed on the mine site a mule deer was observed near the topsoil stockpile on Access
road A. Two grouse were flushed up on the Ridgeline Access road. The inspector was unable to identify which
species of grouse.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9:
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: I
Page 2 of 8
