Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
A total of four ponds were inspected; Work Area Pond -002A, West Pit Pond -008A, East Taylor Pond-OIOA and
West Taylor Pond -01 IA. Each pond held water but only East Taylor Pond-OIOA was discharging at the time of
the inspection. A measurement reading of approximately 0.03 was read along the pond's associated 30" flume
which correlates to 0.04 cubic feet per second of discharge. The water was visibly inspected with discharge clear
and no issues observed. The Work Area Pond -002A received maintenance prior to the inspection. A replacement
primary discharge pipe was installed. Hay waddles were installed along the disturbed embankment section
associated with the maintenance. The waddles were in good condition but needed to be re -keyed. All pond
embankments were vegetated and stable.
All sumps along the access road below the mine entrance road were inspected. It was observed that cutting had
occurred along one of the inlets to the sump. Continual monitoring is recommended to ensure cutting does not
increase.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:
The South Taylor Pit was inspected. General activity was minimal at the time of the inspection. All drag lines
were not operating while a dozer was extracting coal along one of the benches. The highwall miner was located
along the northern eastern end of the highwall. The highwall miner was not operational but appeared to be in the
preparation stage to begin mining.
West Taylor Pit
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The West Pit Fill reclamation was inspected. Vegetation establishment has been successful. Vegetation success
and diversity is much more prevalent in the lower elevations of the fill due to the date of reclamation completion.
Reclamation was performed contemporaneously along the pit starting with the lower elevations. Minimal weeds
were encountered along the West Pit Fill and those that were, have been noticeably sprayed.
