The Dollerschell Pit exists to sell material for construction projects. Since construction projects may
have many different needs, the material we have available sometimes has to be mixed or blended with
other material to make the product meet specifications. Blending requires a usable site that we offer as
an accommodation to our customers. The process is importation to create a usable product that is then
exported to the project site for use.
Projects come and go. We would not be able to estimate a volume per year of imported material
because projects are usually not known more than six months in advance. We are not aware of what
next year's projects might require. There is no intent to import material for backfilling as part of the
site reclamation.
R2UIHHT E -Reclamation Plan (Rule 6.4.5):
10. The primary post -mining land use selected on page 4 of the application is Residential while the Exhibit E
Reclamation Plan describes the site of being returned to a dryland pasture (would be indicated as Pastureland
on page 4); please clarify this discrepancy and update the application, as necessary.
The post mining land use is proposed to be dry pastureland. Page 4 has been corrected and is
attached.
11. Throughout the application the Operator states that the Tract 6 area will encompass a previously disturbed
area in the adjacent Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Dollerschell Pit (M-1979-160) and the
Operator will not be responsible for reclaiming this area unless it is disturbed by the proposed future
activities. Please be aware that when this conversion application is approved, CDOT can submit acreage
reduction for the overlapped area because this area will be covered under the M-1986-074 reclamation permit.
If the Operator decides not to disturb Track 6 as proposed, the Operator will still be responsible for
maintaining this previously disturbed area by having the slope free of excessive erosion and noxious weeds,
and is adequately vegetated with the desired seed mixture at the time of any future release requests. The
Operator will not be required to achieve the 3H: IV slope in this area if left undisturbed though.
The area described as Tract 6 is actually part of a mine (M-1979-160) operated by the Colorado
Department of Transportation. It appears from the records on file with the Division that this pit has not
been released by DBMS. We would propose that at the time of release of the area encompassing Tract 6,
agreement be finalized as to responsibility of the area.
12. The Operator states that seeding preparation will be done according to NRCS recommendations. Please
submit a description of these seeding preparations or the NRCS recommendation.
Copies of the original Soil Conservation Service recommendation are not available. Based on
information provided in a previous reclamation plan for the property, the area to be reclaimed
will be sloped, top soil will be applied, then the area will be chisel plowed. Fertilizer will be
applied, then grass seed will be applied by a tractor drawn broadcast spreader.
