BROWNSTONE 2015 STATE EXHIBIT G
WATER INFORMATION
Stone Wholesale, Inc. currently works under CDPS General Stormwater Permit COR -34-1454.
The amendment area is not expected to directly affect surface or groundwater systems. The Stormwater
Plan has been in operation with no problems since 1997 when DRMS mining permit M-065-1997 was
issued. The plan worked well in the recent September of 2013, 500 year flood and is expected to
continue to function within the parameters of the Plan. The plan uses retention/detention areas which
are the results of the Brownstone excavation process. Stormwater is held in these areas until the water
leaches through the ground below or evaporates away. A backup plan is proposed for this amendment
consisting of a 4' to 5' high X 350' long earthen berm placed along the southwest border of the
disturbed land. This border is the lowest elevation of the amendment and borders the north side of the
Larimer County Canal. The berm would retain any water in the event of the Stormwater Plan failure.
Water used for cooling and lubrication of the stone saws is taken from the well on site. The Colorado
Division of Water Resources issued well permit number 286460 on 8-15-2011. The annual use of water
from this well is less than 50,000 gallons. The saws are inside buildings so the loss from wind and
evaporation is minimized.
The ground water table below the 4.4 acre amendment area is 37'. This figure was pulled from the well
drilling information on permit number 220908-A. (see attached) The well was drilled on 3-09-2000 by
Ingram Drilling, Inc. The cross-section map #2 shows the elevations very close to the longitudinal
position of the abandoned well. The maximum depth of the excavation reached, as per the map, will
approach 42'. As the quarry process approaches this depth, at that longitudinal location 200' south of
the north border, we will not dig deeper than 30' to prevent exposure of ground water. Stone Wholesale
is acutely aware that it is not permitted to expose ground water and we will conduct the operation
accordingly.
