be actively excavated for up to 3 months depending on the quality and demand for Brownstone. The
overall depth of the excavation will be deeper toward the east, as the dip of the stone continues in
relation to a relatively horizontal natural surface of the amended area, resulting in as much as 70' at the
maximum. The Brownstone deposit can vary a great deal within a given area so these configurations are
estimations. Backfilling areas that have been excavated will allow for a gentle grade for runoff after
reclamation. If any area is coming up short for the restoration of the natural drainage channel then
overburden will be brought in from higher elevations within the quarry permitted area. There is an
excess of rubble and overburden in the entirety of the quarry to achieve an end game of natural
drainage and appearance in the overarching reclamation plan.
Final grading in the 4.4 acre disturbed land of the amendment area will be gentle and rolling to maintain
the existing north to south drainage using a maximum of 10 degrees on the rocky east -west perimeter
areas and approximately 5 degrees slope from horizontal in the central region. Seeding will be employed
in timing with the wetter months of winter or spring after final grading, with 4" to 6" of topsoil, is
completed. Seed will be hand broadcasted or we will use a spinner spreader to distribute the DRMS
approved quantity per acre of native seed mix. The seed will be carefully raked in to increase seed to soil
contact and then gently rolled. The entire planted area will be mulched with straw using 2 tons per acre.
The mulch will be crimped with a tractor and a straw net will be used to help with loss due to high wind.
Alternately the area may be hydro -seeded as the situation and conditions allow
The earthen berm along the southern end of the quarry will be removed after the reclamation
vegetation is well established. Removing the berm will help to ensure that the reclamation is consistent
with a balance from a hydrological perspective. Final grade, topsoiling, seeding and mulching of the area
under and around the berm will be one of the final steps in the Reclamation Plan.
