ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW OF MINING ACTIVITIES
Park County Planning Department
P.O. Box 1598, Fairplay CO 80440
719 836 4254 (T), 719 836 4351(F)
The following items are required for review by the Planning Director or designee before
commencing any Mining activities. Mining is defined as an enterprise or operation
involving underground or surface excavation for the purpose of extracting ore, mineral,
rock, or other earthen materials, together with other activities often associated with
mining, such as but not limited to, exploration, development, and milling, concentrating,
refining, or other procedures designed to separate valuable products from waste material.
Within ten days after receipt of these items, the Planning Director or designee shall make
an administrative determination as to whether or not the proposed operation meets all
applicable requirements of these Land Use Regulations, has been issued all necessary
State permits, and requires any additional 1041 permitting. This determination shall be
given to you in writing and may be appealed to the Board of County Commissioners.
❑ Any permits required by the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and
Safety. These will vary according to the scope of the proposed operation.
❑ Any permits required by the Colorado Division of Public Health and the
Environment related to air and water quality.
❑ If the operation is to occur on Federal land, evidence that all requirements of the
land management agency have been met.
❑ A narrative description of the proposed operation, including the materials mined
for, the method of extraction, the proposed length of the operation, and a
description of any on-site processing. The description should also include the
number of people engaged in the operation, the hours of work, the estimated
number of vehicle trips per day, and methods for disposal of all waste generated.
❑ A site plan showing all existing and proposed aboveground activities, structures,
and improvements. The site plan should include lighting, signs, and distances
from any nearby residential structures.
The above items have been reviewed, and the proposed operation is in apparent
compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
: Planning Director or Designee
