iii iiiiiiiiiiiu iii <br />999 <br />• Doc Date:12/11/2001 <br />(~ 2.04.10 VEGETATION INFORMATION <br />A detailed vegetation inventory of the Southfield mine and loadout areas <br />was conducted by Mr. John Keenan during August and September of 1980. <br />During his inventory, Mr. Keenan identified all major vegetation types <br />within the permit and adjacent areas in accordance with OSM and CMLRD <br />regulations in effect at that time. The results of the 1980 Vegetation <br />Inventory are presented in Exhibit 11, Vegetation Inventory. <br />Southfield Mine Area Vegetation <br />The terrain of the Southfield mine area ranges in elevation from 6,100 to <br />6,715 feet and is composed of mesas and small ridges which extend eastward <br />from the foothills of the Wet Mountains located immediately west of the <br />Southfield mine area. Vegetation types in this area are influenced by <br />slope, exposure, soil type and available moisture. <br />The entire Southfield mine area is represented by the following four (4) <br />vegetation types: <br />o Riparian Woodland <br />o Ponderosa Pine - Pinyon - Juniper Woodland <br />o Grassland <br />o Ponderosa - Douglas Fir Forest <br />The disturbance within the Southfield mine area comprises two (2) distinct <br />areas, the refuse disposal site and portal area. The vegetation type <br />disturbed at the refuse disposal area is Grassland while the mine portal <br />area is situated within the Ponderosa Pine - Pinion - Juniper Woodland <br />vegetation type. <br />Following is a summary description of each of the vegetation types have <br />been identified within the Southfield mine area. Detailed descriptions <br />accompanied by data collected during the vegetation inventory of the site <br />are presented in Exhibit 11, Vegetation Inventory. <br />2.04.10-1 <br />
