condition comparable to that existing
exception to this being the Thompson
associated with potential subsidence
of property transfers.
4.20.4 BUFFER ZONES
prior to subsidence. The only
Ranch Buildings where liability
is expressly limited by the provisions
There are no perennial streams, or impoundments with storage volumes in
excess of twenty acre-feet, within the area which would potentially be
effected by underground mining activities. Large ephemeral streams exist
at the mine site and loadout area.
The Division has previously authorized EFCI mining operations within
buffer zones of large ephemeral streams defined as having drainage areas
in excess of one (1) square mile. Relevant operations include mine
workings under Newlin Creek, and the loadout surface disturbance
adjacent to Oak Creek.
Dorchester specifically located mine ponds either outside of the area of
mining disturbance or above the main entries and lined the only two (2)
ponds which normally contained significant quantities of water with
flexible synthetic hypalon liners. These ponds have now been removed
and the associated disturbance areas reclaimed.
Underground mining activities will not be conducted beneath any aquifer
that serves as a significant source of water supply to any public water
system. The City of Florence water line was monitored for potential
subsidence impacts on a quarterly basis during active operations. EFCI is
also ready to implement immediate mitigation measures in the unlikely
event that the pipeline is damaged by subsidence.
Underground mining will not be conducted beneath or in close proximity to
any public buildings or urbanized areas.
4.20-2
Revised 6/23/15
MR -68
