The weather was clear. The ground
was dry.
One particular objective of this inspection included an assessment of vegetation reference areas.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
The Magpie Creek Diversion was walked from the Monarch Fan Road to the southwest corner of the
portal/facilities area. No erosion or other problems were seen with the channel or embankment.
The two ponds at the mine site, Pond 4 and Pond 5, were holding water well below the spillways. The quantity at
Pond 5 was relatively small, and the bottom of the pond contains a significant amount of vegetation. Neither of
these ponds was discharging. No major problems were found with embankments, flumes, or spillways.
No erosion was seen at either end of the two culverts that act as inlets to Pond 5. The lower pipe was seen to be
clear. For the upper (longer) pipe culvert this could not be assessed; it is generally understood (by previous
inspectors) that there is a bend in this pipe.
The recently -repaired erosion near the truck tunnel looks stable, including the check dams. The gully is healing,
and there is no further head cutting.
No drainage from the truck tunnel was seen. In the channel from the tunnel to Pond 5, no discoloration was seen
in the bed material.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0
Page 2 of 8
