The weather was sunny and clear for this inspection. The temperature was
approximately 80F.
The permit for this mine was revoked, the bond was forfeited and the reclamation was completed by the Division.
All the bond money has been expended for this site.
This inspection was part of the termination of jurisdiction process. The Dunstan Family (landowner), VHS
Limited Partnership (landowner) and OSM were notified of the inspection by letters sent on May 1, 2015. In
attendence for the inspection were Christine Belka (OSM) and John Shoup (landowners representative).
Mr. Shoup did not have any concerns about the Division's termination of jurisdiction. He was interested in
installing a ranch access road across the one of the mine bench areas and wanted to know where the mine
structures were located. I directed Mr. Shoup to Steve Renner of DRMS who did the reclamation of the Sunlight
Mine.
BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14
Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f);
Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
The upper bench backfilled area appeared to be stable. There were no signs of slumping or cracking
(photo 1).
The lower adit area did not have signs of slumping or cracking and was dense with vegetation (photo 2). This area
had a small subsidence depression that was repaired in September 2013.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
Page 2 of 4
