June 15, 2015 C-2009-087/Peabody Sage Creek Mine JLE
Figure 1. SIIPM-11 Drainage
The SIIPM-6 drainage was walked. Stock tanks T-32 and T-29 were holding water but were not discharging. The
embankments were stable. The primary spillways were clear and functional. White -top was observed in many
locations surrounding this drainage and the stock tanks. Two spoil springs were observed along this channel; one
about 400 meters downstream of stock tank T-29 and the other is 100 meters downstream of the first one. These
springs were discharging.
The SIIPM-16 drainage was walked. This channel is rip -rapped and stable.
The SIIPM-20 drainage was walked. This channel is rip -rapped and stable.
The following new maintenance items were noted:
• Culvert 59A's outlet is 1/2 full of sediment and should be cleaned out.
Several rodent holes were observed in the streamside embankment of the shop diversion ditch.
Appropriate rodent control techniques should be implemented and the embankment will need to be
repaired.
• At the intersection of SIIPM-6a and SIIPM-6 the channel is eroding and appears to have blown through a
check dam. This check dam should be repaired to help stabilize this area.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 9
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
Page 3 of 10
