Ames: Continuing construction tasks for the Valley Leach Facility (VLF).

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES AND PROGRESS:
1) Earthworks
A) VLF (PSSA, Phase 1, and 2)
Note: An Amec Foster Wheeler field professional monitored fill material temperatures during fill
placement; average structural fill temperatures were above 32°F. All construction materials
placed were verified as suitable, and construction methods were in accordance with project
technical specifications.
Structural Fill:
The following Structural Fill haul to fill and grading activities occurred during the reporting period:
Phase 1 — One Cat D7 dozer graded the slope between the A and C bench between
approximately stations A15+00 and C17+00.
Phase 1 — One Cat 988 loader loaded multiple Cat 740 haul trucks with wet Structural Fill (SF)
material from the A bench between approximately stations A15+00 through A22+00 and hauled it
to the Dump 4 Surge stockpile area for possible future use.
Phase 1 — One Cat CS56 smooth drum vibratory roller compacted the finish graded subgrade
surface between the C and E benches upslope of stations C0+00 through C7+00.
Phase 1 — One Cat 289D skid steer loader and labor crew removed loose rock from the C bench
in the vicinity of stations C2+00 through C6+00.
