and outlet of the sedimentation basin is protected from
scour.
These Construction Best Management Practices are
temporary in nature. The SWMP Operator is referred to the
Exhibit in the appendix of this Plan to determine which BMP=s
are specified where. Implementation of these BMP=s shall be
incorporated into mining activities as described herein. A
common sense approach is encouraged, with the goal of these
BMP=s being to prevent erosion from occurring during mining
and to effectively remove all sediment as a result of mining
from stormwater runoff leaving the construction site. The
Construction BMP=s may be removed upon final stabilization
of the site as described in that section of this SWMP.
Nonstructural BMP=s:
The purpose of implementing these nonstructural, BMP=s are
to prevent or reduce contamination of stormwater generated
runoff during operations.
The Operator shall make all those performing work aware
of the measures to be implemented on the mining site with
respect to their individual duties. This can be achieved by
educating these employees to the overall goal of this SWMP,
which is to limit stormwater runoff pollutants from leaving
the site.
Examples of Nonstructural BMP=s include:
a. Good Housekeeping
b. Waste Minimization
C. Preventative Maintenance
d. Spill Minimization, Prevention and Response
e. Education and Training
