4) An estimate for the amount of cubic yards of overburden and topsoil required to be
replaced to reclaim the proposed evaporation pond.
For the 500 TPY plant expansion, NS is currently looking into technical alternatives such
as water treatment options in order to avoid building another pond. If NS decides that it
is necessary to construct another evaporation pond, it will be permitted and bonded
under a separate technical revision.
5) Please provide an estimate of the proposed asphalt thickness of the paved parking
lot.
a. The proposed asphalt thickness of the paved parking lot will be 4 inches.
b. The proposed asphalt thickness of paved areas with heavy haul truck traffic
will be 6 inches.
The new design layout will decrease previous disturbance estimates submitted to the DRMS
on March 25, 2015. Plant expansion will increase the current disturbance associated with
existing manufacturing facilities by approximately 7.0 acres. Access roads (15 feet wide)
and top soil piles may add an additional disturbance of approximately 2.0 acres.
Natural Soda LLC requests a 30 day extension from the original decision date of
May 7, 2015 to allow the DRMS to perform their adequacy review and bond
calculations. Should you have any questions or comments, please contact me at
(970) 254 -1224 or (970) 216 -1010 (c), or Bob Warneke at (970) 355 -4590.
Regards,
i'- 0/
Gerald J.
