The Operator has submitted a revised seed mix which includes all introduced grass species. <br />The existing seed mix is comprised entirely of native species and is an excellent seed mix for <br />the post- mining land use of rangeland. The proposed seed mix would also be acceptable; <br />however, the Division places an emphasis on establishing native vegetation. Please provide a <br />technical justification for not including any native species in the seed mix. <br />6. The proposed seed mix specifies a range for seeding rates. Please provide the Division with a <br />specific seeding rate, rather than a range. In addition, specify if the seed will be applied with <br />a drill or by broadcast methods. <br />7. The Operator is proposing to reduce the amount of topsoil to be replaced from 8" —12" to 2" <br />— 4 ". In order to approved the reduction of topsoil to be replaced the Operator must provide a <br />technical justification for the revision to the Reclamation Plan. The technical justification <br />should describe how reducing the amount of topsoil to be replaced will aid in achieving the <br />post - mining land use of rangeland. <br />This concludes the Division's preliminary adequacy review of this Technical Revision. Please <br />remember that the decision date for this Technical Revision is June 1, 2015. If you are unable to <br />provide satisfactory responses to any inadequacies prior to this date, it will be your <br />responsibility to request an extension of time to allow for continued review of this <br />Technical Revision.
