The Hard Rock Rules define <br />prospecting as the act of searching for or investigating a mineral deposit for the purpose of <br />extracting samples. The estimate of material to be removed from the mine should include the <br />volume of samples to be collected. <br />6. The Applicant did not provide a topographic base map showing the location of the proposed <br />project. Please submit a U.S.G.S. 7.5 minute quadrangle, or map of similar scale that <br />identifies the proposed prospecting site or activity areas involving surface disturbance. <br />Activity areas include adits, rock dumps and prospecting roads. <br />7. The Applicant has provided several photographs of the site. The photographs are not labeled <br />and provide a limited view of the prospecting location. The Division recommends providing <br />additional photographs taken from various angles. In addition, please provide labels for the <br />all photographs which have been submitted. The labels should include date, orientation and <br />location information. <br />8. The NOI application identifies an upper and a lower portal at the Queen Elizabeth Mine. <br />Please clarify if both of these portals will be accessed during the prospecting operation. <br />9. Please specify if there are existing closures on the portals. If so, please provide a description <br />of the closures including the dimensions. If there are no closures present on the adit(s), then <br />provide the dimensions of the adit openings so that the Division may include the cost of <br />installing a closure. <br />10. Please specify if there is water coming out of either of the portals. If so, please specify the <br />discharge rate and provide the results from any water quality sampling events. Also, specify <br />if there is water in any area of the mine where prospecting activities will occur. <br />11. The Applicant has stated there is a creek approximately 300 feet from the Queen Elizabeth <br />Mine. Please identify the creek and specify if the creek is located on the prospector's <br />patented claim. In addition, please specify if the creek flows year -round or if it only flows <br />following a precipitation event. <br />12. The Applicant has stated a foot bridge or a driveway will be constructed across the creek. <br />Please clarify if the crossing to be constructed will be a footbridge or a driveway. In addition, <br />please provide a schematic with the design details of the creek crossing. <br />13. The Applicant has stated that propane will be stored on site. Please describe the intended use <br />of the propane. <br />14. The Applicant has stated that all surface tailings have been reclaimed in 1995. Please clarify <br />if the `tailings' consist of finely ground material resulting from the processing of ore or if the <br />
