Topsoil
CA
:)SSFIRE AGGREGRATE
SERVICES, LLC
EXHIBIT E
Approximately 2 -4 inches of soil based on USDA data will be removed prior to extraction and stockpiled
for protection. Any woody vegetation will be removed. Except for the plant areas, relocation of
stockpiled soil will be done on an annual basis as mined areas are reclaimed. If necessary, as material is
available and as authorized by DRMS, materials may be added to amend and improve soil including
fertilizers, commercial soil amendments, manure from livestock, non -toxic organic materials from on- or
off -site, such as sawdust, fines from sediment basins, and mulch, in accordance with standard
agricultural practices and based on soil testing for suitability and benefit. There are not expected to be
any heavily textured backfill slopes which could have a potential for the instability of soil placed on
them. Soil existing on -site appears to be of adequate quality and quantity to allow for reclamation to
calving ground.
Soil Spoil and Re- vegetation
As discussed above, soil will be removed from the pit, segregated in stockpiles, and then used for
reclamation. Stockpile areas, whether or not subsequently mined, will be reclaimed and re- vegetated in
the same way as other mined areas. Where soil is left at the time of building the stockpile, because soil
was placed in the stockpile and the area will not be mined for more than 12 months, the areas will be
scarified prior to replacement of soil and seeding. Any spoil will be used as subsoil to establish final
contours and will be covered by soil for re- vegetation. At areas where the mining floor would be
represented by sandstone, mining will cease and overburden and topsoil replaced over the sandstone
facies during reclamation to provide for a minimum soil cover of two (2) feet.
SrhPrillIP
Backfilling, grading, and placement of soil should be accomplished within one year of extraction of
construction material from a given phase except for temporary and rebuilt roadways. Depending upon
the date of completion of the backfill grading and placement, the land will remain in fallow until the
appropriate planting season for the forage selected where re- vegetation is planned.
Reclamation Measures / Materials Handling
Backfilling will be done to provide stabilized slopes around the mining area. The backfill material will
consist of native gravel, overburden, and topsoil. There will not be known toxic or hazardous components
in the backfill material. The mining will not leave high -walls on the property.
Topsoiling
Boring logs taken on -site show little to no topsoil expected to be encountered during stripping. A layer 2-
4 inches in depth, including the root zone of grasses, will be stripped and stockpiled separately but is
expected to be minimal. By using concurrent reclamation techniques, the topsoil is not expected to
remain in stockpiles for more than 1 to 2 years. If the stockpile remains more than one growing season,
it will be seeded with a fast growing vegetative cover to prevent erosion. All topsoil will be retained on-
site to reclaim slopes and other areas disturbed by mining activities.
Prepared by Tegre Corp.
1199 Main Ave., Suite 101
Durango, CO 81301
(970) 828 -1811
tecTr
