COLORADO
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Memo
Date: April 30, 2015
To: Tabetha Lynch, DRMS
From: Jared Ebert, DRMS
RE: Trapper Mining, Inc., Permit C- 1981 -010
Midterm Review No. 7. (MT7) Review Memo
I have conducted a review of Trapper's permit for compliance with the rules listed below. For each of my
assigned sections, I provided a brief discussion of where in the permit these items are addressed.
Adequacy issues are included as bulleted items within each section they pertain. These items have been
worded so that they can be included in your MT7 review document. Please let me know if you have any
questions.
Rule 2.04.3 Baseline Site Description/Land Use Information
Rule 2.04.3(1) -(4)
(])The permit contains a description of the existing, premining environmental resources in section 2.0 of
the permit. The section includes subsections describing the following; cultural and historic resources in
section 2.9, hydrology and geology in section 2.7, climatological information in section 2. 1, soil resource
information in section 2.6; vegetation information in section 2.3, fish and wildlife information in section
2.4 and a prime farmland discussion in section 2.6.2.1 of the permit. The pre - mining land use of the
Trapper Mine area is discussed in section 2.5 of the permit.
(2)(a)Map M28 of the permit depicts the pre- mining land use for the land within the permit area.
Currently, Map 28 is being revised with PR7 and is being updated for the permit area expansion.
(2)(b)A narrative of the capability of the land before any mining is discussed in section 2.5 of the permit.
Trapper utilized Soil Conservation Service data and vegetation sampling data to describe the capability
and productivity of the land prior to mining.
(3)Previous mining activity occurred within the permit area. Details regarding this activity are discussed
in section 3.1.3 of the permit and map series M5A —M5D depicts where the mining activities occurred.
(4) Land use descriptions are discussed in section 2.5 of the permit.
The sections of the permit addressing this rule appear adequate and no additional information is needed.
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http: / /mining.state.co.us
John W.
