Engineering Analytics, Inc. 1600 Specht Point Rd. , Suite 209 1 Fort Collins, CO 80525 970.488.3111 www.En9Analytics.corn
Technical Memorandum
;To: m K. Havengar From: Clint Brown, P.E.
Nate Bolles, P.G.
,&illia
H Inc Date: M arch 20, 2015
EA No.: 110545
Re: Exhibit B — Site Description
Applicant: Lazy H Inc
Cc: 7 Rod Baumgartner, Henrylyn Irrigation District
C) VEGETATION AND SOIL CHARACTERISTICS
Vegetation in the affected area includes a mixture of native grass and forbs. Yucca glauca
(soapweed, Spanish bayonet), Buchloe dactyloides (buffalo grass), Opuntia phaeacantha (prickly
pear), Calamovilfa longifolia (prairie sandreed), Aristida purpurea (red threeawn), and Lactuca
serriola (prickly lettuce) are among the vegetation types present at the site.
The soils within the affected land boundary area shown on Exhibit B -1 have been characterized
by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The information outlined in this section
was obtained from the NRCS' online Web Soil Survey (MRCS, 2015) and the printed soil survey
for Adams County (Sampson and Baber, 1974). Four soil units, or series, are represented at the
site. These units are comprised of Arents (earthen dam), Blakeland- Truckton association, Sandy
alluvial land, Truckton loamy sand. According to the information obtained from the NRCS, 8.2
acres of the area of impacted area was reported as water. Based on review of the information
obtained in the NRCS report, the soil information was obtained while the Boot Lake Reservoir
was still operational. No surface water is currently located within the impacted area and the dam
has been taken out of service_ Soils generally consist of thick layers of sand and loamy sand with
varying amounts of silt, sand and gravel. Vegetation is sparse in areas dominant in well- drained
sand, with thicker stands of vegetation where loamy sands are dominant. Prior to and during
operations existing topsoil will be salvaged and stockpiled to be used during revegetation.
Arents (AED) Series
The Arents series soils are comprised of earthen fill used to construct the Boot Lake Reservoir.
Arents soils are located along the west and north edge of the impacted area and comprise
approximately 22% of the total area.
Exhibit B.docx 1 Engineering Analytics, Inc.
