approved permit and forms part of the overall policy of BMRI to protect human health, safety, and
the environment.
3.0 ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL
Ground water comprises the source water which the water treatment facility is designed to treat
and discharge. To minimize the transfer of affected water from the actual source area, the BMRI
water treatment facility is located within the operations perimeter of the West Pit surface land
disturbance.
The design of the water treatment facility provides for maximum containment and protection
against spills and leaks. Specific design criteria emphasize attention to spill prevention,
containment, chemical storage, and environmental monitoring. The as -built report, submitted to
the DMG upon final construction of the water treatment facility, contains drawings that depict how
the engineered containment facilities address spill prevention, containment, chemical storage, and
environmental monitoring at the water treatment facility (BMRI, 2000). Descriptions of specific
design criteria that emphasize spill prevention, containment in the event of a spill, and
environmental monitoring have also been incorporated into this overall ERP and SPCC Plan.
The engineered design of the TDF included consideration of spill and leak protection. Specific
design criteria that emphasize spill prevention, containment in the event of a spill, and
environmental monitoring have been incorporated into the overall ERP /SPCC.
4.0 ON -SITE REAGENTS OR CHEMICAL PRODUCTS
Table 1 lists the chemical reagents or products that will be stored and used on site. The list includes
fuels, equipment maintenance fluids, reclamation products, and water treatment chemical reagents.
The list also includes designated storage and use locations and maximum quantities of each
product or chemical to be on site at any one time. BMRI maintains adequate safeguards to assure
worker safety in regards to chemical storage, handling, and use as regulated by the OSHA.
ERP and SPCC Plans AES, Inc.
Battle Mountain Resources — San Luis, CO 3 April 2015 (Update)
