4. Notify the Site Environmental Coordinator and your immediate supervisor. Site <br />management personnel are to report directly and without delay to the BMRI Environmental <br />Director. <br />5. Begin clean-up activities promptly. Spilled material should be pumped into approved <br />containers. If pumping is not possible, absorbent pads or a soils substrate (e.g., sand) <br />should be placed to absorb the spilled oil or coolant. Once absorption is complete, all <br />contaminated material must be collected in barrels for proper disposal of in manner and at <br />a location specifically approved for such materials. <br />7.3 Water Treatment Reagents <br />IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, SPILL, OR LEAK, THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE TO <br />BE FOLLOWED: <br />If a worker is unfamiliar with the water treatment plant process or chemical reagents and discovers <br />an accident, leak, or spill, the worker must not attempt to follow the steps detailed below, but rather <br />must immediately notify his/her immediate supervisor and the Site Environmental Coordinator. <br />Note that all water treatment reagents are located within the water treatment building with the <br />exception of lime, hydrochloric acid, and soda ash. The water treatment building has been <br />designed for containment and collection of any spill. <br />1. Evaluate the accident or spill area and determine that the area is safe to enter and <br />respond. Determine which reagent is leaking or causing the problem. DO NOT take action <br />until the proper course of action can be determined based on the reagent involved and the <br />circumstances surrounding the accident or spill. Determination of the proper course of <br />action must include the determination of required personnel training, personal protective <br />equipment (PPE) (e.g., body protection, face protection, respiratory protection, if <br />necessary), exposure and medical monitoring necessary before personnel respond to the <br />accident or spill. <br />ERP and SPCC Plans I AES, Inc. <br />Battle Mountain Resources — San Luis, CO 9 April 2015 (Update) <br />
