Methods to be used for reclamation sampling will be similar to the techniques used for baseline data
collection or other sampling methodologies previously approved by the Division.
4.75.2 USE OF INTRODUCED SPECIES
EFCI plans to utilize several seed mixtures to establish vegetation in areas disturbed by the Southfield
mining and related operations. These seed mixtures are presented as Tables 33, 33a, and 33B in
Section 2.05.4, Reclamation Plan.
Introduced species have been included in the proposed seed mixtures. "These species include:
• Oats (cover crop)
• Cicer Milkvetch (permanent seed mixture)
Introduced species included in the seed mixtures are desirable and necessary for effective vegetative
reestablishment on disturbed areas. Topsoil stockpiles, diversion ditches, sedimentation pond
embankments and other similar areas require rapidly growing species that will quickly stabilize these
areas. Given the immediate need for rapid stabilization, and proven effectiveness of the selected
species use of these introduced species is jusdfied. These species meet specific requirements of
applicable State and Federal regulations addressing introduced species and are not noxious or
poisonous.
Further discussion of species selection and justification for use of introduced species included in
Section 2.05.4. Reclamation Plan.
MR-48 4.15-2 Revised March 2003
