4.14.6 REGRADING OR STABILIZING RILLS AND GULLIES
EFCI's reclamation practices as described in Sections 2.05.4, 4.06, 4.13,
4.14, and 4.15 are effective in controlling runoff and erosion and
preventing the formation of significant rills and gullies. Specific
practices which will limit overland flow and consequent erosion include
the following:
o Regrading to establish relatively short, gradual, undulating slopes
o Regrading and topsoil replacement along the contour where practical
o Incorporation of vegetative materials in the replaced topsoil as a
natural mulch
o Leaving topsoil in a roughened condition
o Re- establishment of an effective drainage network
o Revegetation using proven native and adaptive introduced species
o Site specific measures as necessary including contour furrows.
temporary vegetation, check dams, sediment traps, erosion
netting /fences, etc.
These methods have proven effective in controlling erosion at other mining
operations having similar material, climatic and topographic conditions.
In the unlikely event that natural erosional processes result in the
creation of significant rills and gullies, EFCI will implement appropriate
remedial protective measures as described in the subsection titled, "Post -
Reclamation Management" of the Reclamation Plan, Section 2.05.4.
C: \WORKTRIUWNQfRB REV
Na m ]m.
4.14 -3R
Revised - April 1993
