2.05.3 OPERATION PLAN -PERMIT AREA <br />During the remainder of the fourth permit term which extends through July 30, <br />2004, and successive permit terms, EFCI will continue ongoing reclamation <br />activities associated with permanent cessation of operations at the Southfield Mine. <br />EFCI ceased coal production and processing activities at the end of December, <br />2000. All salable coal was shipped from the site in the three months following mine <br />closure. EFCI subsequently filed for permanent cessation of operations with the <br />DMG in August, 2001. Reclamation of the Mine Site commenced at this time, <br />starting with the process of salvaging equipment and supplies from within the mine. <br />Final Mine Site reclamation, initiated in August 2001, includes the following <br />significant activities conducted in accordance with the approved reclamation plans <br />(Section 2.05.4 of approved DMG Permit): <br />- Removal and salvage of all usable equipment and supplies from <br />underground mine and shop/office/warehouse facility <br />- Regrading and rip-rap installations in Magpie Creek diversion channel to <br />meet designed permanent diversion standards <br />- Sealing and backfilling of main mine portals and South Fan portal <br />- disassembly and salvage or demolition of all surface structures and facilities <br />- Demolition of concrete pads and foundations <br />- disposal of demolition debris in approved locations <br />2.05.3-1 Revised 5/13/04 <br />Permit Renewal RN-04 <br />
