Snow was removed from areas
prior to fill placement. All construction materials placed were verified as suitable, and
construction methods were in accordance with project technical specifications.
The majority of the week's Structural Fill (SF) activity occurred in Phase 2 above the ADR2 haul
road and below the Surface Water Diversion Channel in the vicinity of access road stationing
75 +00 through 85 +00 and S40 +00 through S50 +00. The majority of the SF placement came from
local cuts to fills with a portion being hauled and placed from the Dump 4 borrow area.
SF cut to fill activity occurred to a lesser degree in the Squaw Gulch area between the ADR2 haul
road and the H bench and between the I and K benches in the vicinity of stations 18 +00 through
110 +00 and K0 +00 through K4 +00.
Multiple Cat dozers (DUs, D8's, and D10's) and Cat compactors cut/filled and compacted the SF
material. Oversized SF material, when encountered, was broken up using Cat excavators with
attached rock hammers.
The Structural Fill material was placed and compacted per the project plans and specifications.
