The reclamation costs for phase one and phase two will be calculated separately. There is an
existing overburden stockpile located in the western portion of the mining area (see the Mine
Plan Map on page C -5). This overburden stockpile is approximately 30,000 cubic yards and the
costs for using this material in the reclamation will be calculated in the phase two calculations.
The area of the existing excavated area (see the Mine Plan Map on page C -5) consists of
approximately 6 acres and this area's reclamation costs will be calculated in the phase one
calculations.
PHASE ONE RECLAMATION COSTS
The phase one area consists of 20 acres of affected lands. There will be approximately 10
acres mined in this area. The previously excavated area of 6 acres will be used for the initial
plant set -up and this area will be calculated in these phase one reclamation cost calculations.
Besides these 6 acres, an additional 4 acres will not be mined during the initial phase of
operations.
All of the topsoil will be salvaged and stockpiled in the phase one area. Topsoil will be
salvage and stockpiled 14 acres (phase one area 20 acres less the 6 acres of the previously
excavated area leaving 14 acres to salvage topsoil). The average depth of the topsoil is 2 feet.
This 2 foot average will yield a salvage of approximately 3,200 cubic yards per acre and for 14
acres this will yield approximately 45,000 cubic yards to be salvage and stockpiled in the phase
one area.
The overburden to be stripped in preparation of mining will average 4 feet in depth. 50% of
this overburden will be stripped and placed directly into the mined area when there becomes
room for backfill. The total amount of overburden that will be stockpiled from the mining areas
(10 Acres) for reclamation in the phase one area will be approximately 32,000 cubic yards. No
overburden will be salvaged from non - mining areas.
The entire 20 acres of the phase one area will be topsoiled and seeded during reclamation.
L -2
