The remaining 4 feet will be stripped and 50% will be salvaged and stockpiled
and the other 50% will be placed back into the excavation during stripping when
adequate room has been created from mining. Therefore, there will be
approximately 3,200 cubic yards of overburden salvaged and stockpiled per -acre
during these operations. The overburden will be stockpiled along the permit
boundaries.
The overburden material will be backfilled using a scraper. The average haul will
be approximately 750 feet to the designated storage areas.
(ii) Grading: Once the overburden has been backfilled into the excavated portions
of the pit, the area will be graded using a dozer and /or a motor grader. The
final pit slopes will be established during the grading
i
The overburden material will be graded in an even and uniform distribution
throughout the reclaimed area. All salvaged overburden material will be
used for the reclamation.
(iii) Topsoil Redistribution: The salvaged topsoil will be redistributed utilizing a
scraper. The topsoil will be placed in an even and uniform fashion throughout
all of the disturbed areas. The finished depth of the topsoil will depend upon
i
the amount of compaction during the redistribution. It would be expected that
the topsoil depth prior to seeding would be, at least 2 feet in depth. The topsoil
redistribution will be done immediately prior to seeding.
(iv) Seeding: Immediately after the topsoil has been redistributed throughout the
Reclaim area, seeding will proceed. The seeding will be done using a grass drill.
The following is the seed mixture and rate of seeding:
E -4
