C. Project Description. Describe all'aspects of -fh- operation including mining, milling, and exploration methods, materials, equipment, workforce,
construction and operation schedule, power requirements, how clearing will be accomplished, topsoil stockpile, waste rock placement, tailings disposal,
proposed number of drillholes and depth, depth of proposed suction dredging, and how gravels will be replaced, etc. Cakiulate production rates of ore.
Include justitication and calculations for settling and capacities, and the size of runoff diversion channels.
The owner and operator of the Sara kose, group of unp'atented' mining claim has proposed continued prospecting and exploration in the Red
Amphitheater drainage of Mosquito gulch in the South'Park Ranger District. The purpose of this, activity is to explore for locatable
rhodochrosite and associated minerals.
The operator of the Sara Rose mine is proposing to explore and develop two existing underground portals on the claim. The operator will
access the claim from County Road 8 onto.an existing road which`is approximately,2,100 feet in length and 8 -10 feet wide.*'The- operator
plans to use a trackhoe for 120'days during the year to maintain the access road and also for waste rock dump maintainance.
Construction of a temporary 8'x16' storage shed or 20' shipping container is proposed. This would allow proper storage of tools, supplies,
fuel containment, and safety equipment. Lumber and timbers will also be stored on site next to the shed. All lumber will be properly secured
and not stacked higher than 4 ft.
The portal and waste rock tailings are pre -1950 and have had minimal operations over the past 60 years. Proper clearing, grading and
stabilizing of these existing workings' are ongoing in order to access the adit.
Portal stabilization & construction with timbers and concrete for the 20ft portal entrance is ongoing to properly stabilize the mine entrance =
'- and' protect from any potential'rock falls, landslides; "avalanches etc.
Drilling and blasting is proposed for tunneling a second egress mine entrance /exit to the surface. This would fulfill MSHA regulations to
operate underground. Minimal surface disturbance within a small area is anticipated. Additional blasting would be to prospect for potential
targets. Blasting materials and explosive magazines will be stored as per the current P00 allows.
4
Excavation would be limited to approximately 24,000 tons of waste rock which would be dumped into the existing dump.
Proposed equipment - Niton portable XRF analyzer, EzeBreak Micro - Blaster, 30 kw small generator, ,tool ,box, timber, air compressor, pipe &
hardwater, ore car, hoisting equipment, overshot air powered mucking machine, slusher, ore car, electric or air trammer, hoisting equipment,
core drills,'long -hole drills (down -hole and /or conVentional), miscellaneous parts and repair kits and other necessary; and miscellaneous
required equipment,
'There is no calculation for production for mineral specimens as there is no reliable wayof, predicting the amount of specimens encountered.
Prospecting and exploration are needed to determine any possible targets.
Reclamation acid clearing of pre- existing garbage and lumber is ongoing at the site.' Complete reclamation would be conducted within
approximately 5 years of the completion of this project. w• ,. •al' ' _ „ • '
The mine and proposed operations do not require settling ponds or water discharge and minimal surface water runoff will be diverted by
pro"per, grading and reclamation.:. Additional covering such as 'tarps' may be utilized on any Waste Rock Impoundment if deemed necessary
by the USFS. However, the proposed amount;of wasterock after proper grading should not have any effect on surface, water, runoff and
diversion.
D. Equipment and Vehicles. Describe that which is proposed for use in your operation (Examples. drill, dozer, wash plant, mill, etc.). Include: sizes, capacity,
frequency of use, etc. 4
