§4.03 Roads
(4) Drainage.
(a) General.
(b)
i~
(i) No natural channel drainage patterns are blocked by the
existing haul roads.
(ii) Culverts are designed and constructed at all ephemeral natural
drainages. All culverts are constructed at the natural gradient.
No adverse effects are caused to fish migration, aquatic
habitat, or related environmental values.
(iii) The haul roads, constructed within the disturbed area, were
designed and constructed and are maintained using accepted
engineering practice.
(iv) See 4.03.1(4)(b-e)
Erosion control measures.
(i) The train loadout haul roads are existing structures. All
exposed surface areas within the cut and fill slopes have been
revegetated.
(ii) Riprap and vegetative sediment filters are used at selected
places. Riprap is placed as required at drainage structures.
Straw dikes are most commonly used at areas of temporary
construction. All drainage structures either reduce overland
flow velocity, reduce runoff volume or trap sediment.
(iii) The operator is prepared to employ additional measures if
those presently in use do not satisfactorily minimize erosion,
resultant siltation, and disturbance to the prevailing hydrologic
balance. No additional measures are deemed necessary at
this time.
TR-20 4.03 - 5 3/01
