PERMIT #: M- 1977 -324
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: TCI
INSPECTION DATE: June 19, 2014
of the affected area approved for permit M -77 -324 as a result of the approval of the [conversion].
Bond:
The currently held bond is $38,500. This bond is for a maximum disturbance of 18.1 acres at one time
approved in the 1993 conversion application. The financial warranty has not been updated since the 1993
approval. However, the current bond held by the Division is deemed adequate for the current 9.25 (2015
annual report) acres of disturbance at $4,162 /acre, and likely still adequate for the Google Earth measured
disturbance of 12.4 acres ($3,115 /acre).
Summary and Recommendations:
1. The Division has no record on file of the specific changes to the highwall reclamation plan submitted on
March 5, 1998. Please provide a copy of the requested revisions if available.
2. The Operators should consider requesting either an acreage reduction request to remove the
southeast corner of the site from the permit (if no future disturbance is planned in this area) in order
to avoid increasing the bond in the near future.
3. The financial warranty has not been updated in 22 years. However, because approximately half of the
maximum allowed disturbed area has been affected, the current bond is considered adequate.
PHOTOGRAPHS
M
- SU RICK &TILE CQ.
