• Run logs to TD (1195.6' logger) . Review log; no apparent cement
damage to overburden zone. Decision made not to ream well out to 7-
7/8 ".
October 24
• Plan to land screen at TD. Screen the interval 1160' to 1195'.
• Make up the screen assembly from three sections of Johnson Muni -
Pak well screen (21D x 4" OD, 4-1/2" nominal, 0.025 slots, SS 304),
1@ 5', 1@10', and 1@20'.
• Fit with stainless bottom cap (2" NPT threaded) and a 2" NPT to 2-
3/8" NUE thread crossover and a stainless steel centralizer set to 6"
at the top of the screen section.
• Tally a string of solid steel casing /tubing, variable lengths of 2 -3/8"
OD, .190 wall, J -55 4.6 ppf, NUE, 10 Rnd thread, galvanized.
• Lower screen into well and land. Lift 2" to tension. Hang string from
a surface plate. Landing mark (1195) is 6" high. Attribute to slough
knocked into hole during installation and to unburied threads at each
connection (tallied threads -oft).
• Run in the hole with a string of I" tremie pipe and tag the top of the
screen at 1160'.
• Lift tremie 4', hang, and prepare to pour sand pack.
• Sand pack plan: From TD to 5' above top of screen (1155'). Calculate
8.7 sacks (50 lbs each, 1012/1020 mix) of Colorado Silica Sand.
Poured through the tremie with a water flow.
• Pour 9 sks sand, wait 15 min. and tag at 115 1' - Thigh. Uncertain of
reason for high tag - water entrained in the sand?
• Pull back 5 stands of tremie (210') and pour 1 pail (50 lbs) of Cetco
3/8" coated bentonite tablets.
NOTE: water began flowing up and out of tubing, but stopped.
October 25
• Water flowing out of tubing, - 1 gpm. About 3 gpm flowing up
annulus.
• Pour 1 pail bentonite pellets to better seal overburden zone. Wait 30
minutes, pour 1 sack of sand to protect seal.
• Trip in hole with tremie and tag top of sand at 1147'.
NOTE: Calculations for 2 pails of pellets and 1 sack of sand show a
fill length of approximately 9' of 6-1/4" hole. This would put top of sand
at 1142' if the high tag on 10/24 was correct. If the original calculations
for the sand pack were correct and the top of sand was actually approx.
1155', the top of the sand - bentonite would be 1146', which is more in
line with the tag today. Will go with today's tag of 1147'.
