March 19, 2015 C- 1994- 082/Yoast Mine JHB
Runoff from a snowdrift adjacent to LU -313 was running down the slope, channeling along the light use road, and
then cutting across the slope to drainage YPM 3 -2, immediately west of Shrub plot SP06 -3. SCC needs to monitor
this runoff to assure that the road does not gully, and repair the downcutting of the slope to YPM 3 -2. The
sediment has been retained in one of the cross drainage gabions. No clean out of the gabion is necessary.
SLIDES and DAMAGE- Rule 4.12:
Careful observations of the previous slides and areas of instability were made. Pond 13 slide does not
show indication of new movement. Vegetation is becoming established, though the scarp face still remains bare of
vegetation. SCC should continue to monitor the bare scarp to assure noxious weeds do not become established.
All piezometers at the east side of Pond 13 Slide with the exception of YWC33 and YWCU33 have been sealed.
A vehicle chock had been left at the piezometer location.
Pond 12 north slope held up well during the winter months and showed no evidence of fresh movement or new
cracking. Vegetation is becoming established on the lower portions of this slope.
The neck pit slide was observed though binoculars since access to the slope was hampered by muddy snow
covered roads. No new slope movement was apparent.
SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02:
SCC has replaced the mine identification sign along the main access road from Routt County Road No.
27. This sign is visible, legible and contains the appropriate information required the rules..
Mine identification signs were clearly posted at entrances to the mine site from public roadways.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED NA
OTHER (SPECIFY) NA
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS /COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 6
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 4 of 10
