The mine site is a reclaimed surface mine, <br />that has undergone various phases of bond release. No mine personnel remain on the mine site. Little activity <br />occurs on the site during the winter months. Activities are primarily limited to water monitoring. No plowing of <br />the access roads has occurred recently. The snowpack was melting off rapidly at the time of the inspection. The <br />weather was mild and clear. Surface conditions are muddy. Snow remains in the higher elevations and north <br />facing slopes. <br />AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1): <br />Mine records were verified at the Peabody Sage Creek Mine. The records form is attached to this report. <br />Backfill & Grading: The reclaimed slopes were looking good overall. Much of the reclaimed slopes were viewed <br />through binoculars due to limited access due to ground conditions. No new signs of mass movement or head scarp <br />cracking were observed. <br />FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18: <br />Two Sandhill cranes were observed flying in the vicinity of Pond 10. Marmots were active near culvert <br />YB -6. Elk track and scat was noted throughout the mine site, though no elk were observed during the inspection. <br />Coyote tracks and scat were observed in the north pit area. No coyote were observed during the inspection. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />Pond 10 was 1/2 free of ice and was discharging. SCC has pulled the flume for repair. Discharge from this pond <br />flows through a channel.
