3.0 RESULTS
3.1 Summary
The revegetation evaluated for Phase II Bond Release comprised approximately 24 acres. A total
of 46 plant taxa were observed within both revegetation areas evaluated in 2013. These species included
13 grass taxa, 23 forbs, 1 sub - shrub, and 10 shrubs and trees (Table 1). Found in relatively small quantities
were the state - listed noxious weeds, cheatgrass (Anisantha tectorum), Russian knapweed (Acrooti /on
re,oens), musk thistle (Carduus nutans), Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense), and field bindweed (Convovu /us
arvensis). In addition, the ubiquitous, invasive species Japanese brome (Bromus japonicus) was also
present in small quantities. With regard to the Phase II Bond Release success standard, the West Mine's
perennial average cover of 51.68% with an additional 5.94% contributed from annual and biennial cover
(equates to the maximum of 10% relative cover allowable) totals 57.62% (Chart 1). This value modestly
exceeds the success criterion of 54% (90% of the Total Plant Cover Standard). With regard to the Phase
II Bond Release success standard, the Run of Mine's perennial average cover of 49.50% with an additional
3.93% contributed from annual and biennial cover totals 53.43 %. This value substantially exceeds the
success criterion of >40 %. Both of these units therefore pass the Phase II Bond Release success
comparison.
Chart 1
Bowie #1 Mine - Phase II Bond Release
Total Plant Cover Standard Comparison - 2013
70
60
57.62
c 50
54
53.43
V
a
m
a
West Mine
40
Success
--- - - - - --
+°•
o
Perennial Cover
Criterion -
40
51.68
90% of Total
30
Plant Cover
Perennial Cover -
Annual & Biennial
Standard
49.50
IL
Contribution -
(60 %)
5.94
Annual & Biennial
Run of Mine
20
Contribution -
Success
3.93
Criterion -
( >40 %)
10
0
West Mine Success Criterion Run of Mine Success Criterion
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, INC.
