March 12, 2015 C-1981-028/Keenesburg Strip Mine TNL <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The north perimeter ditch appeared stable and functional. <br /> <br />The water treatment lagoon had a few inches of water present. <br /> <br />GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE: <br /> <br />A new access road and culvert were observed at the northeast corner of the permit boundary as shown in Photo 1. <br />This road access and culvert have not been approved in the current drainage and sediment control plan. A minor <br />revision will need to be submitted to Division for review to ensure the road and culvert is consistent with the <br />requirements of Rule 4.03.2. Additionally, a mine permit sign is needed at this access as required by Rule 4.02.2. <br /> <br />REVEGETATION – Rule 4.15 <br />Vegetative Cover; Timing: <br /> Revegetated parcels appear stable. Predominant grasses present included Big Bluestem, Blue Grama, <br />Sand Dropseed. Top Sand is currently being applied to Area 31, once complete there will be 2 ft of top sand <br />spread throughout this parcel. Area 25, which has previously had problems with revegetation appeared to have <br />good cover at the time of inspection. <br /> <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS – Rule 4.02: <br /> Top Sand markers were present and permit boundary markers were present. <br /> <br />TOPSOIL – Rule 4.06 <br />Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; Redistribution 4.06.4: <br /> Top sand piles A-1, B-1, and A-3 were observed during the inspection. Piles appeared stable.
